IF YOU ARE PROHIBITED FROM POSSESSING A GUN, DON'T DO IT IN ARIZONA
From the Arizona Daily Star: 10 years possible in gun accident
A Benson man faces up to 10 years in federal prison after accidentally shooting himself in the groin with a gun he wasn't allowed to have.
James Dietrick Leavitt, 38, was convicted Thursday by federal court jurors of possessing a firearm despite being prohibited from having one.
Leavitt was charged after Tucson police responded to a report of gunshots in the area of West Prince and North Romero roads on Aug. 7, 2002. Police arrived to find the bleeding Leavitt lying on the ground next to his motorcycle.
During trial, Leavitt said he intended to return a firearm to an ex-girlfriend when it fell out of his vest pocket and went off and the bullet struck him in the groin. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents determined that Leavitt had previously been convicted of false imprisonment and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 4 before U.S. District Judge John Roll.
If you are a felon don't mess with Arizona (or Texas), stay in Illinois where you will get a free ride and you have a large pool of unarmed victims. This is the Wild West and we will shoot to kill.

VIGILANTES ALIVE AND WELL FROM MICHIGAN TO FLORIDA
From the Sun-Sentinel: Robbery victim used truck to run down, kill gunman
TAMPA -- A restaurant owner who was held up at gunpoint jumped in his truck, pursued the robber and ran the man down, killing him, police said.
Storer said he was sitting in his Ford Explorer outside the Thai restaurant he owns at about 11:30 p.m., taking a break from some renovation work, police spokesman Joe Durkin said. A man approached on foot, stuck a chrome handgun in his face and demanded money.
We need this sort of mentality to come to Chicago. Sad to say it is the only way the gang shootings and sexual assaults will stop. Daley doesn't give a damn about you, you are on your own. Of course, we could always have more candlelight vigils to 'feel good'.

NO REASON FOR THIS IS GUN FRIENDLY FLORIDA
From the Sun-Sentinel: Clerk fighting for life after gunmen try to rob Lauderdale store
FORT LAUDERDALE -- A convenience store clerk was fighting for his life today after being shot just after midnight by two masked men, a police spokesman said.
The men burst into the store, at 1300 NW Sixth St., and immediately shot the clerk, Saed Mashini, 30, said Detective Clinton Ward.
Come on Floridians, you have shall issue concealed carry. Get those permits and start packing! You say your boss won't let you carry, screw him! You are working a low-wage job in the first place. Would you rather lose your job or your life? Mr. Rich Guy boss will live and you will die...

TEEN CLAIMS SELF DEFENSE
October 30, 2003
Tift County-- If you're attacked, do you have the right to shoot your attacker? And what if the tables are turned, and that attacker claims he was just trying to protect his own life?
A girl calls 911, trying to get help for her wounded friend. "He's been shot in the chest and the abdomen one, I'm not sure, but he's bleeding. Three times he's been shot."

TRICK OR TREAT OR LEAD?
From the Chicago Tribune: Boy, 5, wounded in crossfire
October 31, 2003
A 5-year-old boy was shot in the left leg in an apparent gang-related crossfire Thursday night, police said.
The child was playing with some friends and family members at a park in the 6600 block of South Wolcott Avenue around 8:20 p.m., police spokesman Hector Alfaro said. Witnesses told police they heard two shots from inside the park. The 5-year-old then told a family member he had been shot.
Halloween is supposed to be a fun day for kids and adults alike. Unfortunately, this 5-year-old will not be trick or treating today. Since you won't hold Mayor Daley accountable, please send him a thank you for allowing the gangs to flourish in Chicago. And don't forget your bulletproof vest if you are going trick-or-treating.

IF YOU DIE IN CHICAGO, YOU WILL SOON BE FORGOTTEN
John Kass, telling it like it is in the Chicago Tribune.
Two words were on the sign outside the Chicago Theatre, where machine politicians organized their memorial to those who died needlessly in the Cook County Administration Building fire:
"We remember."
If you've been here even for a short while, you've seen other similar memorials. There were memorials for those who fell from a non-inspected porch in Lincoln Park, a few feet from the alderman's office. There were memorials for those trampled to death in the stampede in a South Side nightclub. City Hall considered the nightclub dangerous, but City Hall forgot to deny the politically connected club its license to sell liquor.
City Hall knows that it is not the remembering that counts.
It is the forgetting that matters.
jskass@tribune.com
Do yourself a favor and flee Chicago and Cook County as fast as you can. You may be the next soon forgotten victim to die in a fire or bleed out unarmed in the street.

MICHAEL MOORE SUED OVER "BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE"
"Detroit — James Nichols, the brother of Oklahoma City bombing conspirator Terry Nichols, says he was tricked into appearing in the anti-gun documentary Bowling for Columbine, according to a federal lawsuit filed against filmmaker Michael Moore.
Nichols also alleges in the lawsuit, filed in Detroit, that Moore libelled him by linking him to the terrorist act."

FORMER ILLINOIS STATE POLICE DIRECTOR FOILS TOY GUN ATTACK ON U.S. CONGRESS
"WASHINGTON (AP) - The House of Representatives was ordered shut down Thursday following a reported security breach at a nearby congressional office building, but police later determined that a plastic revolver and Halloween costume were to blame.
U.S. Capitol Police Chief Terence Gainer said 'two staff members bringing in Halloween costumes' were responsible. 'I don't think they had any ill intent,' he said, adding he expected no charges to be filed."
Yep dippy anti-gun cop Terence Gainer is back, this time saving the U.S. Congress from a toy gun. We may thank God this is one bufoon who left Illinois on his own. Wish Mayor Daley, et al, would follow Terence's example.

FEMALE CHAING GANG: SOUNDS BAD BUT STILL BETTER THAN BEING AN INFANTRY SOLDIER IN IRAQ
"PHOENIX, Ariz. - Sheriff Joe Arpaio boasts that he runs the only all-female chain gang in history.
For the chief lawman of Maricopa County, which includes the 3 million residents of Phoenix and its satellite cities and suburbs, presiding over the chain gang fits his self-declared image of being the toughest sheriff in America.
Under Arpaio, the 8,000 inmates of the county jail system work seven days a week, are fed only twice a day, get no coffee, no cigarettes, no salt, pepper or ketchup and no organized recreation. Human rights groups regard it as the harshest jail system in the United States."
As the Sheriff tells the inmates: "If you don't like it here, don't come back!"

WOULDN'T IT BE EASIER TO JUST CARRY A GUN?
Crimes against Northwestern students are happening so frequently that it's hard to remember how shocked we should be each time we hear about one. Most recently a female graduate student was attacked while walking on the 600 block of Clark Street around 2 a.m. Saturday. Her front teeth were knocked out and she had to get stitches on her upper lip and chin.
But above all else, students are responsible for not allowing themselves to be victimized. The repeated precautions about not walking alone and taking the shuttle service might seem cliched -- or even pointless -- but they're still necessary. Other schools use "buddy systems" that pair students so someone is always watching out for someone else.
Why not hold a candle light vigil while you are at it?

DAVID GROSS OF "CONCEALED CARRY REFORM NOW" ON THE I$RA $98K JUDGEMENT
Concealed Carry Reform, NOW! (Minnesota) led the charge in picking up expired names of anti-gun organizations in March of 2002.
We happened to mention it to Neal Knox who trumpeted it around the country as the thing to do. As a journalist, he wasn't required to mention the caveats that accompany such a move, under the law. I shuddered when I saw the report of Joe's and my actions on Neal's website. We did something different from the Illinois group, however. We did it and made no public issue of it 1) because the opposition complained/protested right away, and 2) we realized that, if we lost (always a possibility), we didn't want to create huge damages. We let the opposition make it public, through their complaint in the courts, where our Answer was privileged and required. The news media, of course, picked up on it right away, and our response to their inquiries was subdued, factual, and "It's in the Courts." All the adjectives and adverbs belonged to the opposition's comments, and they sounded like a bunch of losers.
In fact, some of our membership saw the press releases and reports of the ISRA actions and protested that we were being upstaged and preempted by ISRA, when we came up with the idea, first. Joe and I, who were in control of the matter (Thank God!) advised that we would not act so foolishly, in our joint, humble legal opinion. We contacted ISRA, once, and advised some restraint, but it was too late. They apparently thought that it was the court of public opinion, instead of the courts of law.
ISRA didn't exercise that sort of JUDGMENT, and created a bunch of damages.
This is what happens when you thump your chest, gloat, and shove it in peoples' faces. Although you add to the embarrassment of the opposition and you get to humiliate them, you also get to pay for the pleasure when it is all said and done; and, incidentally, humiliate yourself.
Well, we lost, too. It cost us $345 for statutory costs and filing fees: no damages, because there weren't any that WE caused. The opposition was forced into the unenviable position of having to disclose publicly their incompetence. The opposition looked like fools, marginalized themselves, and whined a lot, damaging their own credibility at the legislature and being totally ineffective at the legislature in opposing the carry reform bill which became the Minnesota Citizens Personal Protection Act of 2003, a model for the nation, we think (and so does NRA). Money and effort (a relative
pittance) well spent.
Sometimes, SUBTLETY and a LONG RANGE VIEW (maturity?) is called for, instead of a tribal war/battle victory dance (immediate gratification) that can be legitimately portrayed as KKK Cross Burning. Perhaps I'm being a little harsh, here; but not by much, as the amount of the damages assessed attests to. Who can blame ISRA, which was desperate for any good news for such a long time. Their excitement overcame their better judgment. But understanding the motivation and emotional needs does not excuse the conduct anymore than than the emotional justification of punching someone in the nose "who sincerely deserves/needs it" eliminates the damages of the punch.
I feel sorry for them. I don't mean to gloat. I don't find any joy in this.
"I told you so." gives no satisfaction; and every person or organization is responsible/accountable for its decisions and actions.
And that's the rule of law and common sense.

GOVERNMENT TEACHES A LESSON IN OBEDIENCE
As promised, federal prosecutors on Wednesday charged white supremacist Matthew Hale with a new count of murder solicitation, prompting his lawyers to ask that the additional charge be severed from the case or that the trial be postponed.
The indictment referred to the new witness only as "Individual A," though prosecutors in court papers last week identified him as Jon Fox, the self-described leader in Illinois of Hale's World Church of the Creator.
"Fox, an admitted alcohol abuser, appears to have considerable animus against Hale and enormous personal and political motivation in the white supremacy world to see to it that Hale remains in jail," the defense said in the filing.
Matt Hale is a racist. Then again so is Jesse Jackson and Luis Farakhan. However Matt is the wrong kind of racist so the government is piling on. This case is NOT about solicitation to commit murder, it's about what happens if you open your big fat pie hole in the USA and the wrong words come out. Will be interesting to see the racial composition of the jury and how that effects the outcome. I really think this case is going to be important because if Matt wins it may make the government think twice about punishing "wrong think" people. If they win...well guess I'll have to learn to keep my yap zipped.

KIDS CAN BE ADULTS WHEN THE COMMIT CRIMES BUT NOT WHEN THEY DO GOOD THINGS...WHY IS THAT?
"Two 15-year-old males were charged as adults Wednesday after shooting and seriously injuring a 20-year-old student near Washington High School, 3535 E. 114th St., officials said.
Benny Trevino, of the 13500 block of South Buffalo Avenue, and Samuel Lopez, of the 9400 block of South Commercial Avenue, were both charged with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school, said John Gorman, spokesman for the Cook County state's attorney. If convicted, Trevino and Lopez could each face 6 to 30 years in prison, Gorman said."
Frankly I don't care how long Benny and Sammy go away, but why is kids can be charged as adults when they commit a crime but when they do good things, like be an honor student, they can't be similarly treated as adults and given the right to vote, to consume alcohol, sign contracts etc? I am sure greater minds than mine know the answer to this.

PRESS WETS THEIR PANTS OVER NRA BLACKLIST
"LOS ANGELES -- Most blacklists are designed to intimidate. But thousands of Americans are clamoring to join one drawn up by the National Rifle Association.
Actor Dustin Hoffman was so dismayed to find his name missing from the NRA's shadowy 19-page list of U.S. companies, celebrities, and news organizations seen as lending support to anti-gun policies that he wrote to the powerful pro-gun lobby group begging to be included.
'As a supporter of comprehensive gun safety measures, I was deeply disappointed when I discovered my name was not on the list,' Hoffman said in a letter to the NRA."
Note how this list is described as "Shadowy." Heck this list has been around forever. I don't recall the press upset about lists that detailed companies who did business in South Africa during apartheid. Guess some black lists are good, and some are "shadowy."
The NRA has their good guy list. You can join it at www.nrahq.org. The press makes no mention of this list.

WONDER WHAT MAYOR DALEY'S POLICY ON SEX OFFENDERS IS?
Texas Counties Order Lights Out for Sex Offenders on Halloween
LUBBOCK, Texas — Authorities in three West Texas counties have strict orders for sex offenders this Halloween: Go home, turn out your lights and don't answer your door.
On Friday, convicted sex offenders whose victims were children and who are on probation must be home by 6 p.m.
Officers in Lubbock, Potter and Tom Green counties will check on the 100 or so men and women throughout the night as part of Project Lights Out.
"It's good to know they are putting sex offenders on notice," said Margaret Crawford, who planned to take her 8-year-old son out to collect candy and treats. "I think that's a top priority for any parent."
What can I say? Don't mess with Texas! In the meantime, sexual attacks on women are at an all time high on the north side of Chicago. Boo hoo Mayor Daley.
PS If you go trick-or-treating in Chicago, make sure you wear your bulletproof vest!

SENATE HOPEFUL RAUSCHENBERGER BACK PEDALS ON ARMED TEACHERS
"While appearing on a radio program recently, he was asked his position on whether citizens should be allowed to carry concealed handguns.
Rauschenberger has been a supporter of such legislation in the Illinois Senate, 'as long as a citizen received law enforcement-approved training and underwent an extensive criminal background check.'
But this time he was asked a more specific question.
Would he allow teachers to carry concealed handguns into the classroom?
'Yes,' Rauschenberger said.
He now claims that he was thinking of the Columbine High School massacre at the time.
Teachers should have a right to protect themselves and their students from school violence, Rauschenberger explained in defending his answer.
On Tuesday, however, Rauschenberger's campaign issued a news release containing the following paragraph.
'Upon further reflection, and the solicited advice from law enforcement, education and teachers, including my wife Betty, I have concluded that the risks of having a loaded gun in a classroom outweigh any possible benefits. As such, I do not support legislation that would allow teachers to carry guns in classrooms.'"
His conclusion is dead wrong. The assumption here is that anyone with a gun is just dying to use it. Sounds like Rauschenberger is becoming more like Jim Durkin everyday. And if you don't remember who Jim Durkin is....well soon you won't remember who Rauschenberger is either if he keeps this up.
I emailed the following to Daily Southown Reporter Paul Kadner and the Rauschenberger campaign:
Mr. Kadner:
I would say Sen. Rauschenberger got it right the first time about arming teachers. Israeli's even have parents and grandparents toting full auto Uzi's at schools. Your mindset is that because someone "could" do something the risk should eliminated.
Someone could ram their car into a farmer's market in LA...in fact they did. Ban Cars?
Someone could right a libelous news story. Ban newspapers?
All Rauschenberger has done now is gain NO SUPPORT from the gun grabbers who won't like him no matter what and lost support from gun owners. Sounds like a classic no win to me.

Guns in classrooms not a good idea

A 9-year-old boy was arrested at gunpoint and handcuffed Saturday because he was waving a toy gun over his head while seated on a bench outside a store, according to a Lorain police report.

ROTUND BURGLAR MAKES IT EASY FOR COPS TO SOLVE CRIME
"Police were called and found Petropoulos dead when they arrived at the home. He apparently had opened a double-hung first-floor window from a driveway, hoisted himself into the bottom frame of the window and then was unable to wriggle forward.
The victim's feet were about six inches above the driveway, and his head was suspended over the kitchen sink, Turner said."

CHICAGO POLICE TELL WOMEN: DIAL 911 AND DIE B*TCH DIE
Chicago police Monday held a street safety workshop for women concerned about a rash of sexual assaults on the North Side."
It's kind of like having a game plan," said Sgt. Cynthia Schumann, of the district's community policing division. "Have some sort of plan for yourself."
Officer Ron Rufo stressed the importance of walking in a group, if possible, and being aware of surroundings. He also said to not keep possessions such as an ID and credit cards in pocketbooks. Women should not talk on their cell phones while walking alone. Instead, they should have 911 keyed in on their cell phones so the emergency number can be called quickly in the event of trouble, Rufo said.
Rufo told audience members that if they are attacked, they should get a good look at their attacker so that they can give a complete description to police, including approximate age, height, weight, hair and eye color, race and any distinguishing marks such as tattoos.
The only time to fight is when the attacker tries a sexual assault or tries to take you somewhere, Rufo said.
Well, there you have it. The Chicago cops admit they won't be there when you need them and you will be fighting hand to hand combat. To further protect yourself have your cell phone pre-dialed to 911. Presumably the 911 dispatcher will then record your screams as the attack takes place.
Also, don't forget the Chicago Police are famous for shooting people with cell phones (Latanya Haggerty, may she rest in peace, comes to mind.)

ISRA PAYS ICHV $98K
It is no longer just a court order. The Illinois State Rifle Association has paid $98K of our money to the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence. This makes the ISRA the single largest cash contributor to the number one enemy of gun rights in Illinois: The ICHV.
BACKROUND: Previously the ISRA agreed they had indeed infringed on the ICHV tradmark in a big way. U.S. Judge James Zagel then ordered the ISRA to pay the legal fees of the ICHV. The question then was who would pay? Insurance? The indivduals involved? Or the ISRA?
SUMMARY: According to the report below the insurance company for the ISRA would have paid, but only on the condition that ISRA Second VP and NRA Lobbyist Todd Vandermyde be booted permenantly off the board. However as Todd Vandermyde is the heir apparent to the throne at the ISRA, if and when current ISRA President "For Life" Richard Pearson gives up the ole' ghost, having insurance pay was not an option. Further it is unlikely Todd has $98K in his wallet.
Nope, I'm afraid the members paid. At $20 a year dues you do the math how many members funded the ICHV instead of the ISRA. It will make you sick. Worse, the $98K is just legal fees for the ICHV. On top of that you have the ISRA legal bills so the amount spent could easily be double. Imagine what that kind of money could have done to get a concealed carry law passed?
So far no one is calling for the ouster of any responsiblie parties. The ISRA board has taken no action against any ISRA Officer from President Pearson on down. I suspect they don't want the ISRA membership to even know about this. And the members won't know about it unless YOU TAKE ACTION.
Now Listen Up: You can keep this a secret like the ISRA wants (you will not read of this in the Illinois Shooter) or you can pass this around. Not just to your gun lists, but to your local press as well. Hopefully the ISRA board members (and there are some good ones) will then clean house before it's too late. To make it easy here are the contacts the media would want to speak with if they take an interest:
Richard Pearson, ISRA President, (815) 635-3198
Todd Vandermyde, ISRA Second VP, tvandermyd@aol.com
Thomas Mennard, Exec Director, ICHV, (312) 341-0939
John Boch, Editor for GunNEWS, (217) 649-3702
John Birch, President, Concealed Carry, Inc., (630) 660-3935

ISRA PAYS HUGE $98,000 JUDGEMENT TO ICHV
Refuses insurance company payoff contingent upon removal of Vandermyde, Flanagan from Board
Chatsworth, IL (GunNews) The Illinois State Rifle Association Second Vice-President Todd Vandermyde and former director Peter Flanagan had a good idea when they registered a new, gun-rights friendly "Illinois Coalition Against Handgun Violence, Inc." with the Secretary of State's office in 2002. The "old" ICHV had failed to properly renew its corporate registration with the State of Illinois in 2001 and as such, the 25-year-old corporation which lobbied tirelessly against civil rights technically no longer existed.
Problems arose in May and June 2002 when the "new" coalition with Vandermyde as its spokesman issued press releases claiming the ICHV now supported gun rights legislation in Illinois.
At this point, ICHV's attorneys became involved claiming trademark infringement and sought a restraining order from federal court barring further releases. A short time later, the ISRA agreed to stop using ICHV's name and in return, the old ICHV would not sue the ISRA.
The matter of legal fees incurred by the old ICHV remained, and ICHV sought reimbursement of roughly $210,000 spent on lawyers. U.S. District Judge James Zagel ruled in March 2003 that the ISRA would be liable for $98,013.20.
The ISRA allegedly characterized the registration of the new "ICHV" as "as overly cute joke."
A cute joke, stupid stunt or waste of money?
The Illinois State Rifle Association, it has been reported by sources close to the ISRA leadership, sought to have
its insurance company pick up the tab for the wreckless misadventure of two of its inner circle, Vandermyde and Flanagan, as well as Flanagan's wife, Medina.
The insurance company allegedly agreed to pay the award, our source says, if Vandermyde and Flanagan were both barred from holding any position of leadership in ISRA in perpetuity.
ISRA's President Richard Pearson, apparently with the blessing of the ISRA's Board of Directors, chose to pay the award from ISRA's assets rather than remove Vandermyde as Second Vice-President.
We have confirmed that the ISRA did in fact pay the judgement to the ICHV in September with a check drawn from its money market fund.
The ISRA's business office and President Richard Pearson were each contacted by GunNews for comment. Neither responded to comment on the allegations.
GunNews was unable to uncover how much additional money was spent in legal costs incurred by the ISRA defending the organization and Mssrs. Vandermyde and Flanagan for their "overly cute joke."

6 MONTHS LATER, 2 MURDER SUSPECTS STILL AT LARGE, ANOTHER CANDLELIGHT VIGIL
From the Chicago Tribune: $15,000 reward in actor's death
CHICAGO -- A $15,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the conviction of the killer of Barry Cunnane, an amateur actor fatally shot in the Ravenswood neighborhood, his friends said Sunday.
Cunnane, 27, was walking with a friend to a neighborhood bar early May 24 when he was shot once in the head in the 1900 block of West Leland Avenue, across the street from his apartment, police and a witness said.
Two men fled the shooting, which police called unprovoked. No arrests have been made, authorities said.
On Oct. 5, friends hosted a benefit to help raise the reward. On Cunnane's birthday, Nov. 6, they plan a candlelight vigil at the scene of the crime.
"Having a reward is not going to bring Barry back, but if it will make the streets safer for this community and the community where this person might be, that's the most we can hope for now," said Michael O'Malley, chairman of Friends of Barry Cunnane.
Stories like this really make my blood boil! At the time of this murder, I lived just a few blocks away on Leland. Lincoln Square is one of the safest neighborhoods in Chicago, but murder still happens. This is one of those crimes where the victims could have clearly used a handgun for defense. At the very least this poor victim's friend could have return fire instead of running to a phone. So now we have 1 good guy dead and 2 murderers still at large. A really poor outcome I'd say.

NEVER BRING A WINE BOTTLE TO A GUN FIGHT
"An off-duty police officer working as a security guard shot and wounded a man Sunday morning at the Little Village Discount Mall in the 3100 block of West 26th St. The man was among several people in a car that had entered the mall lot through the wrong driveway, and when confronted by the officer, argued with him. One of the men threatened to return and kill the officer, and later they did return, with one man attacking the officer with a bottle while another went for the officer's gun, according to Chicago Police spokesman Pat Camden. The officer then fired a single shot, striking one of the attackers in the abdomen. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not released. Another man was in custody, while three others fled on foot. No one had been charged as of Sunday evening, and the shooting was being investigated."

Also on the list are ex-Seagrams CEO Edgar M. Here lies the danger of 'may issue' concealed carry laws. If you aren't rich or famous, your life isn't worth protecting. I'd run from any of the big three cities (NYC, LA or Chicago) as fast as you can. If you need to live in a major metro area, there are plenty of states that have big cities and 'shall issue' concealed caryy laws. Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, New Mexico are just a few. Check out www.packing.org before you move anywhere!

State Sen. Susan Garrett, outstanding advocate for women's rights, has me confused. She advocates protecting women from domestic violence, but does not advocate allowing women to protect themselves with a handgun from domestic violence. She believes women have the intellectual capacity to safely perform any task except operate a handgun. She believes women have the emotional stability to handle any situation except defending their lives with a handgun. She believes women can handle any responsibility except handgun ownership. When it comes to women's rights, Sen. Garrett is pro-choice except for handgun ownership. Sen. Garrett's anti-gun stance is contributing to the myth that women are the weaker sex and not capable of defending themselves from violent criminals.
The majority of lawmakers in 36 states believe women have the intellectual capacity, emotional stability and sense of responsibility to legally carry concealed handguns for self-protection. These states do not want women to be primary targets for violent criminals. Sen. Garrett needs to rethink her anti-gun position as a women's rights advocate.

So 15 year old gang punks with cheap handguns and no training can shoot but an adult woman, who would probably be required to take a gun-safety class before getting a conceal carry permit, can't. This really big dummy State Sen. Susan Garrett should definitely be voted out!

GOVERNMENT CONTINUES TO HAMMER MATT HALE. NEVER HOLD AN UNPOPULAR VIEW OR THEY WILL TAKE YOU DOWN.
"The racist reverend Matt Hale didn't get to appear Friday before the federal judge he allegedly tried to get his chief of security to kill."
I sure am glad Reverend Jackson and Minister Farakhan aren't racists. Makes me sleep better knowing Matt is rotting in jail too. Serves him right eh?

ANOTHER CICERO COP FAILS THE PERSONALITY TEST
"An off-duty Cicero police officer was shot and seriously injured in Chicago early Saturday after three men tried to rob him on the street. The 29-year-old officer was eating hot dogs with another off-duty Cicero officer alongside their car at Roosevelt and Union when the men approached about 4:45 a.m., police said. An argument ensued and escalated to a fight. The officer was shot once in his abdomen, Chicago police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. 'He's not out of the woods yet,' Cicero Lt. John Krzyzowski said. The shooter and his accomplices fled in a light blue Chevy Celebrity while still firing shots. No one was in custody Saturday evening. The second officer, a 30-year-old man, wasn't injured."
First the Cicero cops get rousted out one of my favorite dives, Frankie and Johnnies (on Central close by Midway.) Now another one gets gut shot. These boys got to learn to either stay in Cicero or if they want to go out with the big boys, they need to keep their yap shut.

MAYOR SAYS NO GUN. KILLER SAYS "GOOD," MAKES LIFE REAL EASY. DEATH TOO.
"Magdalena Kwasnik came to Chicago from central Poland two years ago, arriving alone and speaking only a handful of English words.
But Kwasnik, a 24-year-old waitress with a luminous smile who quickly had a string of suitors, was adapting rapidly to American life. She traveled to California and Florida. She wrote for a local Polish magazine. She took class after class in English and seemed to be readying for a future in the U.S.
On Friday night, Kwasnik was slain in the bedroom of her Northwest Side apartment. She died of multiple stab wounds to the neck, police said."
Guess she should have had a can of mace?

BIG DUMMY CHICAGO WOMEN OBEY MAYOR DALEY'S GUN LAWS. HOPE THEY LIKE NON-CONSENSUAL SEX OR WORSE.
Before a rash of sexual assaults hit the North Side, Laurie Meyer made occasional solo treks to her Lakeview apartment after a night out with friends. But warnings of a sexual attacker preying on young women in her chic neighborhood have modified her behavior.
'It unnerves me that it's so close to campus,' said Laura Scales, a 19-year-old sophomore who said many of her friends carry pocketknives. 'I probably should carry Mace or something.'
Freshman Assia Boundaoui, who took self-defense classes a few years ago, has signed up for kickboxing classes. 'I think everyone should be prepared and aware in case it ever happens,' she said."
Pocket knife? Mace? Kick Boxing classes? You big dummies get smart. Get a gun. You keep listening to your big dummy mayor and you are going to end up robbed, raped, maybe dead.

DALEY'S CORRUPTION CAN KILL YOU AND NOT JUST THROUGH DISARMAMENT
John Kass, of the Chicago Tribune, tells it like it is.
Since six people died in last week's Loop fire, there have been references to the political influence of Elzie Higginbottom. His company, East Lake Management, helps manage the infamous Cook County Administration Building at 69 W. Washington St.
Higginbottom, the chairman of the state Gaming Board, has raised political money for Mayor Richard Daley, the boss of everything, and Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who gutlessly backed away Wednesday from investigating the fire tragedy.
Since January 1996, 13 people have died and more than 70 have been injured in fire-related tragedies in buildings managed by East Lake. The other fires didn't happen downtown, the victims were poor and the media indignation meters were set on low.
One of the fires took place in January 1996. East Lake had been cited for 30 building code violations, including missing hard-wired smoke detectors. Daley blamed a careless smoker, in one of those patented angry outbursts in which he demands somebody take responsibility, as long as they're not his somebody.
Transcript of Daley's campaign promises in 1988: Listen to it here!
"We've come to expect political candidates to make promises.
But I want to be held accountable for mine.
I want to be held accountable for the quality of public schools.
Accountable for fighting crime in our streets and drugs in our neighborhoods.
For creating new jobs and opportunities for all our people.
Chicago needs action, not excuses!
As mayor I'll take responsibility for our city."
Only a really BIG DUMMY would re-elect a corrupt man like Richard M. (for MurderCapitol) Daley. With all the evidence out there, WAKE UP Chicago!

AFFLUENT NOT IMMUNE TO CRIME, NO BIG SURPRISE EXCEPT TO THE AFFLUENT
From the Chicago Tribune: Man followed home, police say
BARRINGTON HILLS -- Barrington Hills police believe a home invasion in which four robbers stole an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry and terrorized a family of four Tuesday night was not a random event.
Instead, police believe the fast-moving robbers planned the crime by following the homeowner from his downtown Chicago job sometime earlier.
"It would appear they were waiting for him when he got home," Barrington Hills Police Chief Fred Clauser said Friday.
According to Clauser, four men--three brandishing handguns--dressed in black and wearing ski masks, confronted the man in his garage, which is attached to the house.
Looks like crime is alive and well even in upscale Illinois. The only difference is the offenders who target the affluent plan their robberies better. They are not the BIG DUMMIES in Chicago who shoot you in the head and get caught. Remember, anyone CAN be a victim of violent crime!

MURDERERS CAUGHT, SHOP OWNER DEAD, NO ONE WINS ESPECIALLY DEAD GUY
From the Chicago Tribune: Bail set in death of store owner
MARKHAM -- Cook County Circuit Court Judge Edwin Gausselin set bail Friday at $2 million apiece for a boy and a man accused of killing a liquor store co-owner during a foiled robbery attempt.
Justine Jackson, 16, of the 2500 block of Elmdale Avenue, Markham, and Ernest Moore, 27, of the 14700 block of Hoyne Avenue, Harvey, are charged with murder, armed robbery and felony death in connection with the shooting Tuesday night, Cook County state's attorney's spokesman Tom Stanton said.
Khaled Mugalli, 41, of the 14600 block of Karlov Avenue, Midlothian, was shot once in the head when Jackson, Moore and a third man still at large allegedly tried to rob the R&S Liquor Store, 263 E. 159th St., Harvey, police said.
To you idiot robbers; you rarely ever get away with this sort of thing. Unfortunately, your capture doesn't bring the law-abiding guy back to life. To you shopkeepers, get a good handgun a learn how to use it safely. Note one perp is still at large, you may be next!

With the state Senate debating the merits of the proposed concealed-carry
gun legislation at the same time, the Racine County Board's Thursday vote
on a resolution supporting the effort may have little impact. Nonetheless,
county supervisors on either side of the issue showed how strongly they
feel about the matter.
The County Board voted 13-7 to support Racine Supervisor Van Wanggaard's
resolution calling for support of the matter.
Wanggaard, whose background is in law enforcement, said research he has
reviewed shows that violent crime has been reduced in the 45 states that
have adopted concealed-carry laws.

AS WISCONSIN SENATE PASSES CCW DEMOCRATS STATE FEARS VOTERS WITH GUNS.
‘‘It’s unfortunate that instead of working around the clock to create jobs, the Republicans are working around the clock to allow people to carry concealed guns into Little League games, boys and girls clubs and near schools,’’ Gov Jim Doyle said in a statement.
Sen. Chuck Chvala, D-Madison, complained bitterly that homeowners would be forced to ask every guest entering their homes whether they have guns if they wanted to keep them out of their homes.
"‘Do we really fear each other?’’ he asked. ‘‘Do we really fear that our neighbors and friends cannot be trusted? Do we really feel we need a gun to protect ourselves from our fellow citizens?’’"

CHICAGO NUNCHAKU HIJACKER IN SLAMMER. ANOTHER BIG DUMMY.
A man arrested at Midway Airport after causing a ruckus on an inbound flight with a martial arts weapon was charged Friday with aggravated battery and resisting arrest, police said. Nathaniel Basa, 34, of Chicago, was aboard a Southwest Airlines flight from Oakland on Thursday when he pulled a nunchaku from a violin case and began pacing inside the plane. A flight attendant told the man to sit down and alerted the pilot, who then radioed authorities. He was arrested at the airport after a scuffle with police. Besides three counts of aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting arrest, Basa was charged with boarding an aircraft with a weapon. An Oct. 30 court date has been scheduled for the man, according to a police spokesman, Officer Matthew Jackson.

DETROIT FREE PRESS DECRIES THE VIGILANTE

When the cops and courts start doing their job then the Free Press will have a valid point. For now, it's street justice time.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE A SECOND AMENDMENT?
"Now, 330 of Li Zhensheng photos have been compiled in a book entitled, 'Red-Color News Soldier: A Chinese Photographer’s Odyssey Through the Cultural Revolution.'
A few of Li's pictures were displayed in the Reader's Digest story.
One shows seven people about to be shot by a firing squad.
Another shows an old man crying in shame while laughing Red Guard youth shave his head in front of a crowd.
Yet another shows 'one high official compelled to bow on an unstable chair before a huge crowd, a damning placard hung about his neck and a towering dunce cap on his head. Black ink was splashed and smeared on the man's face until it ran down his body. Li writes, 'I was using black-and-white film, so afterward I could not distinguish between blood, tears, and ink.''
BBC News reports other photos in the book show “mass rallies, ritual humiliations, beatings, executions and passionate revolutionary enthusiasm.”"
I plan to get this book today in fact to share with my liberal friends.

A REAL STATE RIFLE ASSOCIATION: TSRA SUES TO STRIKE DOWN BAN ON CCW ON BUSES...MAKES TOO MUCH SENSE DON'T YOU KNOW
The Texas State Rifle Association and Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson filed a lawsuit Thursday seeking to strike down a Metropolitan Transit Authority regulation banning people from carrying concealed weapons on Metro buses.
Four other persons licensed to carry a concealed weapon joined the lawsuit, arguing that the regulation violates provisions in the Texas Constitution protecting the right to bear arms.
Patterson, District 11 state senator from 1993-99 and author of the concealed handgun law, said the lawsuit is ultimately aimed at overturning similar regulations banning concealed weapons at transit authorities statewide.
"Metro, we believe, have exceeded their police power," said attorney Jerod Woodfill, who filed the lawsuit. Woodfill is chairman of the Harris County Republican Party.
"The state has essentially said that these people are well qualified and have the proper character to carry a gun," Woodfill said.

SOME TIDBITS FROM "THE FEDERALIST" 03-43 DIGEST
This week's "Braying Jackass" award...
"We can't win if people think we're too liberal. But we can't get our own folks out if people think we have no convictions. So the trick is to get them both." --Bill Clinton, offering advice to the "Thundering Herd of Jackasses" on how to “trick” voters. And who knows more about tricks than Slick?
On the Left...
The Democratic Leadership Council is warning Demo candidates that their perennial gun-control platform is a liability to their campaigns. DLC founder Al From and Demo Sens. Evan Bayh and Mark Pryor say the anti-gun position perpetuates an image of Democrats as "cultural elites" -- which, of course, they are. Democrat pollster Mark Penn, who was a key architect in devising Bill Clinton's deceptions in '92 and '96, advises, "The formula for Democrats is to say [read: lie] that they support the Second Amendment, but that they want tough laws that close loopholes."
"We consider that our role is the party's reality therapists," said Mr. From. "We cannot be perceived as cultural elitists and weak on national security issues," added Mr. Bayh. But the DLC Demo-makeover façade faces tough opposition from Leftist gun-confiscators like Sens. Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, Chuck Schumer and Frank Lautenberg.
The gun-control crowd on the Hill may have retreated after deciding that such measures as re-authorization of the so-called "assault weapons" ban are non-starters, but three Democrat senators are pushing for reauthorization of another law banning guns with plastic components. Sen. Teddy Kennedy (who else?) is asking that the "Terrorist Firearms Detection Act" set to expire 10 December be made permanent. "The need for action is urgent," claims Mr. Kennedy, who seems to have forgotten that the 9/11 hijackings involved box-cutters, not plastic guns. That fact was not lost on New Jersey Demo Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who said, "Box cutters are a pale threat when you consider the fact that plastic guns ... can get by a metal detector and be carried upon an airplane." Sen. Chuck Schumer seconded that opinion, calling the bill a "no-brainer."
"No-brainer" indeed. There isn’t a manufacturer in the world producing guns made of plastic, though some have plastic parts. That fact notwithstanding, the renewal is likely to pass.

I CAN"T KEEP UP, NOW 9 SEXUAL ATTACKS ON NORTH SIDE OF CHICAGO!
From the Chicago Tribune: Another North Side attack
A woman was attacked early today during an attempted rape in the Lakeview neighborhood, police said.
It was the ninth early-morning assault of a woman on the North and Near Northwest Sides since early August. But police spokesman Hector Alfaro said the latest assault "is not being linked at this time" to eight others that police said may have been committed by the same man.
This is getting to be a little ridiculous! Now nine! Once again, women and the elderly benefit most from concealed carry laws. No kidding!

NUMBER OF RECENT SEXUAL ATTACKS IN CHICAGO UP TO 8 NOW!
From the Chicago Tribune: 8 assaults may be linked, police say
The 35-year-old woman was walking alone about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday when she noticed a young man in dark clothing watching her from across West Beach Avenue in Wicker Park.
In a story that has been told many times in the last three months on the North and Near Northwest Sides, the man crossed the street, grabbed the woman, slammed her to the ground and beat her head against the concrete, police said.
The woman's tale turned out differently from other attacks, because somebody heard her screams and came out, scaring the man away. Witnesses chased him, but he drove off in a dark-colored, older model Grand Am or Grand Prix, police said.
This woman was paying attention to her surroundings as we all should. She had plenty of time to press a handgun into use, if she had one! Of course if she did, she'd be committing a FELONY! She is extremely lucky someone heard her screams. This could have ended very differently...

TSA STILL A BILLION DOLLAR JOKE. MAYBE IT WILL WORK IF WE SPEND $2 BILLION?
"The disturbance began when the passenger opened the violin case and displayed a nunchuck, a weapon used in self-defense. He then attempted to carry it through the passenger compartment, according to the Transportation Security Administration. He complied with instructions from a flight attendant to return to his seat and the pilots radioed the airline to notify Chicago police.
'Officers were waiting for him at the gate, but the passenger tried to bolt after encountering the pilot at the exit of the Jetway,' said Chicago police spokesman Patrick Camden. 'He was acting strangely and started resisting.'
"Didn't the screeners in Oakland ever see any of the movies about Chicago gangsters in the 1930s? Wasn't it guns they carried in violin cases?" asked Michael Boyd, an airline consultant in Colorado.
"This is just another indication we have very expensive security, but not very good security," Boyd said. Officials at the security agency, which failed to prevent college student Nathaniel Heatwole, 20, from hiding box cutters and bleach in the lavatories of two Southwest planes last month--and then did not act on Heatwole's e-mails that he had planted them--said the security system is not perfect.
"There was no fail-safe to stop the college student or the guy going to Chicago with nunchucks," Boyd said. "Who cares if the airlines now have fortified cockpit doors. It's just another piece of wreckage on the ground after the bomb goes off."

Scalia Ridicules Court's Gay Sex Ruling
Don't jump up & down just because the Supreme Court may hear a 2nd AM case. They have already made mistakes. Check out Scalia's opinion on this one to see why
Scalia wrote a bitter dissent in the gay sex case that was longer than the ruling itself.
On Thursday, Scalia said judges, including his colleagues on the Supreme Court, throw over the original meaning of the Constitution when it suits them.
"Most of today's experts on the Constitution think the document written in Philadelphia in 1787 was simply an early attempt at the construction of what is called a liberal political order," Scalia told a gathering of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute.
"All that the person interpreting or applying that document has to do is to read up on the latest academic understanding of liberal political theory and interpolate these constitutional understandings into the constitutional text."
Scalia is a hero of conservatives who favor a strict adherence to the actual text of the Constitution.

DETROIT CITY COUNCILMAN GLAD WHEN ASSHOLES AND BULLETS MEET
"John Birch, who runs a concealed weapons advocacy group near Chicago, said his members are 'absolutely in love with this guy. . . . I'm praying that the guy is a serial drive-by vigilante. That will do for crime what doubling your police budget would do.'"
In 1985, an 85-year-old man shot and killed a younger man who had attacked him on a Detroit bus. Then-Homicide Inspector Gil Hill, who went on to become a city councilman, said this about the killing:
"I'm always glad when assholes and bullets meet."
The story fails to point out the difference between civic duty and vigilantism. Gunning down a man wielding a pipe on a young woman is being a good citizen. Lynching someone because you don't like them being a vigilante. Cops don't like it when citizens do the popular thing. Cutting into their turf don't you know. At this point I'd say the shooter falls into the good guy category.

WISCONSIN SENATE TO DEBATE REWRITTEN CCW BILL
New version expected to pass both houses
Madison - Extensively rewritten by the Legislature's Joint Finance Committee, a controversial proposal that would allow Wisconsin residents to carry concealed weapons is scheduled for debate today in the state Senate.
To become law, it would need to be approved by the Senate and the Assembly and then Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle.
Because the Joint Finance Committee approved 23 amendments to the bill, which Doyle has said he intends to veto, here are some basic questions about the newest version of it:

OHIO CCW UPDATE
Dayton Daily News
Ohio Senate's president to join gun-bill talks
Proposal would allow concealed weapons
COLUMBUS | A bill that would let Ohioans carry concealed weapons took a step forward in the legislature this week when Senate President Doug White agreed to appoint himself and state Sen. Scott Nein to a conference committee.
The committee will try to iron out differences between the House and Senate versions of concealed-weapons legislation. White had refused to appoint conferees until it looked like behind-the-scenes negotiations brought the two sides close enough together that a compromise is likely."

MISSOURI JUDGE WAITS TO DECIDE ON CCW
News-Leader Staff and Wire
ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis judge declined to rule on the future of Missouri's new concealed-guns law until he could review arguments made for and against it in a hearing Thursday.
Circuit Judge Steven Ohmer said he would issue a written decision as soon as he could but did not set a specific time line for the ruling.
'The Constitution is written in simple language, but that doesn't mean the decision is simple,' Ohmer said following a hearing that lasted 5 1/2 hours. 'I have great respect and deference for the General Assembly, and any decisions about the Constitution are of great importance.'
'I wish I could make this decision tonight, but it is not possible.'

DAMN, I CAN'T POST THE SEXUAL ATTACKS OCCURING IN CHICAGO FAST ENOUGH
Yesterday CC News reported this attack from last Sunday.
Sadly we already have another attack to report in the Chicago Tribune.
CHICAGO -- A woman was attacked in the Wicker Park neighborhood early Wednesday by a man matching the description of a man believed to be involved in six sexual assaults on the North and Northwest Sides.
The 35-year-old woman was attacked around 2:20 a.m. in the 1700 block of West Beach Avenue, said Chicago police spokesman Hector Alfaro. Witnesses told police they heard a scream and saw a man kicking and slapping the woman.
It is a fact that women and the elderly have the most to benefit from the passage of conceal carry laws.

WHILE ANTI-GUN FEEL GOOD PEOPLE TRY TO BLOCK CCW LAW IN MISSOURI, SHERIFF SAYS DON'T PANIC OVER ESCAPED MURDERERS
From FOXNews: 2 Convicted Murderers Missing From Missouri Prison
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Authorities searched Thursday for two convicted murderers missing from a state prison ice plant, where a note left alongside a slain inmate threatened death for anyone attempting to confront the fleeing prisoners.
While cautioning residents not to panic, Cole County Sheriff John Hemeyer warned that the escape attempt was unlike any other in last 30 years at the penitentiary.
"This is a serious, serious deal," Hemeyer said. "They left a note saying they would kill anyone who got in the way."
I wonder if Sheriff Hemeyer is for or against the concealed carry law.
Here is the perfect example of why law-abiding citizens should have the ability to conceal carry if they desire. Enough said!

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Students at one Kansas City high school pledged on Thursday to put an end to gun violence.
The effort is part of the eighth annual day of national concern about young people and gun violence, KMBC reported. The program is designed to teach students that through leadership, they have the power to stop violence.
All together once again, let's hold hands and sing....that will make everything better...can't have God or Religon in the schools, and please don't teach morality.

WISCONSIN: SOME MORE UNBELIEVABLE ATTITUDES FROM SOME IN LAW ENFORCEMENT !!
Local law enforcers line up against conceal-carry bill
"I personally don't see the benefit," Price County Sheriff Wallace Krenzke said. "There's a whole group of things that haven't been thought through."
Part of what hasn't been thought through, he said, is how the bill would be implemented.
"There's a potential of increased risk to officers and to the individuals carrying," he said.
He said four officers he worked with at a previous job in Milwaukee were killed by individuals carrying concealed weapons.
Let me try to understand this. Increased risk to officers? I would sure hope that an officer would assume all people are carrying, especially in a traffic stop.
The statement concerning the murders of officers in Milwaukee...can he be that stoopid? The perps were obviously not the law-abiding type and Milwaukee doesn't have CCW that I am aware of....unless of course you can vote yourself in the right as a councilman (where has that happened before?). So what he is saying, you as a citizen are all lumped in with the criminal element & you can't be trusted.
But Krenzke said people - even law-abiding citizens - sometimes let emotions overrule good sense. He said a conceal-carry law could rekindle an antiquated atmosphere, where might makes right.
"Do we want to go back to the days of the wild west," he asked, "when the one who shot the straightest and the fastest ruled?"
OK, let's get this straight....according to Krenzke, all law enforcement are not human and are not subject to emotions and all non-law enforcement are subject to emotion & want to shoot people over parking spaces. Sorry, but this rhetoric is getting real old and is extremely stoopid & naive. The arrogance & elitist attitude is overwhelming here to say the least.

IMMIGRANTS GET TOGETHER, FEEL GOOD, ACCOMPLISH NOTHING FOR SAFETY
From the Chicago Tribune: In Albany Park, top concern is safety
A diverse crowd of more than 1,200 Albany Park residents turned out for a community convention Wednesday night to air their concerns about quality of life issues in the neighborhood.
The public safety issue became a rallying point following the fatal shooting Oct. 10 of Najih Ihmud, a 30-year-old father of four who was managing his store in the 3400 block of West Lawrence Avenue when he was killed.
Albany Park District Cmdr. Sam Christian encouraged business owners to take down posters and other window displays that block the view into their stores, so they would be less likely to be targets for robbers.
Of course it's good to get to know your neighbors. But if the best advice the CPD can give is to remove stuff from windows, these people are doomed. I predict another murder in Albany Park before the year is out.

DETROIT POLICE CHIEF FACING GUN CHARGES. BUT IS ALREADY GETTING FREE PASSES.
"Wayne County prosecutors are reviewing whether Detroit Police Chief Jerry Oliver violated state law by having a handgun in his luggage without a permit to carry a concealed weapon."
Officials with the Federal Transportation Security Administration discovered the weapon Saturday while screening the chief's baggage after he checked in and cleared security for a Northwest Airlines flight to Philadelphia, where he attended a conference of police chiefs.
Airport police contacted Oliver before he boarded his plane and informed him of their discovery. Oliver told police to keep the gun until his return.
The security administration is investigating why Oliver didn't declare the weapon, as required, when he checked his baggage before the 1:30 p.m. flight. Oliver could face a fine of up to $1,000, a security administration spokeswoman said.
The gun discovery also brought to light that Oliver has not yet become a sworn police officer in Michigan. However, officials with the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards said Oliver has passed most of the required tests, including a firearms shooting examination, and is close to becoming a sworn officer.
"He's already admitted that he did something wrong," Derrick Royal, vice president of the Detroit Police Officers Association said. "Ignorance of the law is not an excuse, especially for the chief of police."

US SENATE CANDIDATE GENERAL JOHN BORLING ON THE 2A
FRAN EATON OF ILLINOIS LEADER: Now, let's talk about another issue. There are some controversies concerning the Second Amendment.
BORLING: I’m a supporter of the Second Amendment. I believe in self-defense, the rights of individuals. The notion that individuals should be trained, licensed, chartered for carry and conceal seems to be a very reasonable proposition.
I was quoted when I was asked about that latest man who went crazy and killed all those people on the southside of Chicago. The question was if they had a gun in the workplace and could have defended themselves, would that have made a difference? My answer was “possibly.”
And, in the end, I speak in defense of self-defense. I am convinced that the national statistics show that incidents of gun crime go down when there is responsible carry and conceal kinds of legislation. That makes abundant sense to me.
Now we’re going to get people screaming and yelling on both sides of the issue, but, in the end, you know, my wife’s father used to carry a gun to school, prop it up against the door and hunt rabbits on the way home from school in Nebraska. The notion, somehow, that we can isolate this issue without focusing on the causality of the things that are spawning. The crimes, which are the drugs, violence and gang-imbedded culture. I think it is a very erroneous negative.
So, if you want to come down to where John Borling stands, I think it is with the framers, its restraint, citizen restraint, citizen responsibility. Not only in pride, but stated with respect for expression within the Bill of Rights. So, as for the Second Amendment, I support our right to own and bear arms. "
I strongly recommend you read the interview. If you are prepared to "die in the ditch" over the abortion (pro-life) issue, General Borling is not your candidate.

City's safety

Champaign -- How can the Chicago administration state that the city is safe from terrorists when it cannot even rescue people working at their desks in a non-terrorist-caused fire? This disgrace falls right on the leadership.
I'd be much more concerned with the armed robbers, rapists, and drug dealers. If the city can't keep these at bay forget about dealing with terrorists.

SECOND IMMIGRANT IN AS MANY WEEKS MURDERED DURING A ROBBERY OF A SMALL BUSINESS
From the Chicago Tribune: Clerk slain in liquor store robbery
An armed robbery of a south suburban liquor store turned deadly Tuesday night when the bandit shot and killed the store's cashier, police said.
Kahled Mugali, 41, was shot in the head at the R&S Food and Liquor store, 263 E. 159th St. in Harvey, according to a spokeswoman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Once again (I'm tired of saying that) a small business employee is killed for his cash. Don't ever believe the "give them the money and you will not be hurt" nonsense. Once again to you small business owners, get a good handgun and learn to use it safely. If you have a business in Chicago, GET OUT of there!

MISSOURI: NRA TRIES TO INTERVENE IN CCW HEARING
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The National Rifle Association hopes to convince a St. Louis judge Thursday not to issue a permanent injunction blocking Missouri's concealed guns law from taking effect.
St. Louis Circuit Judge Steven Ohmer granted a temporary injunction Oct. 10 preventing the law from going into effect the following day.
The NRA filed a "friend of the court" brief Monday, contending that the clause Ohmer cited in issuing the temporary injunction does not block the state Legislature from allowing Missourians to carry concealed guns.

WISCONSIN CCW ONE STEP CLOSER...AND EXTREMELY RESTRICTIVE
MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin residents who qualify for a permit could carry concealed weapons under a bill a legislative committee approved, moving the state one step closer to overturning its 130-year-old ban.
The Joint Finance Committee voted 13-3 late Tuesday to approve the legislation after debating 55 amendments. Lawmakers approved 23 of those amendments, including those that would not allow concealed weapons in churches, domestic violence shelters, hospitals and university campuses.
Sen. David Zien, R-Eau Claire, one of the bill's co-authors, was unhappy with the changes, saying they would make Wisconsin's concealed carry law one of the nation's most restrictive.
"We've watered it down way too much," he said. "This wasn't consensus; this was compromise."
The Senate is expected to take up the bill Thursday. It has to be approved by both houses of the Legislature and signed by Gov. Jim Doyle to become law.........
Interestingly, the legislation would let those with concealed carry licenses from other states carry their weapons there.
Check out the poll...interesting results...vote early, vote often!

JOBS THAT SHOULD REQUIRE CARRYING A FIREARM
From the Daily Herald: You do what for a living?
Some of the recently released figures might surprise you.
For instance, among the 441 women last year who died at their workplace, the majority died of homicide. And that has been the leading cause of deaths for women in the workplace for years, according to government statistics.
Also among the top five occupations for rates of fatalities are pizza delivery drivers and other sales-oriented drivers.
In a review of the Daily Herald police blotters, more than a dozen instances of violence or robbery against pizza delivery drivers were written about this year.
The reason women die more often from homicide, Rabaut said, is because they are often employed in higher risk jobs such as convenience store or hotel clerks, Rabaut said. In those jobs, armed robbery is more frequent than other jobs.
Still, most fatalities are related to robbery and the highway, according to bureau statistics.
So once again women suffer more at low wage jobs while being unarmed. A small ray of light for people with a fixed place of business. You CAN carry a handgun in your business in Illinois. That is unless you are in Chicago, Morton Grove, Oak Park or several other towns with anti-handgun ordinances. Get a good handgun and learn how to use it safely. Just don't step off your property with your gun!
It is most interesting to note that a job which requires carrying a handgun, police officer, isn't even mentioned in this article of dangerous occupations. Guess those 'evil' handguns really do save lives!

MORE UNARMED WOMEN SEXUALLY ASSAULTED IN CHICAGO
The Chicago Tribune reports: Cops issue alert on suspect in North Side sex assaults
Chicago police issued a community alert Tuesday involving a man they believe is responsible for a string of late night and early morning sexual attacks, mainly on the North Side.
Since August, six women have been attacked in a similar fashion. After leaving nightspots alone, they are approached by a man who threatens them with a sharp, knifelike object and demands money before throwing them to the ground and sexually assaulting them, said Belmont Area Sgt. Jim Gibson.
Tell me a gun could not have helped these 6 women. I guess they'd rather be raped...

MORE MINORITY IMMIGRANTS TO GET TOGETHER AND "FEEL" SAFER
From the Chicago Tribune: Albany Park's cultures unite to mold future
If Najih Ihmud, the Albany Park shopkeeper killed Oct. 10 in a midday armed robbery, was targeted, as many believe, because his tiny store was isolated and dark, neighbors think they have a way to fight back.
If they aren't going to discuss arming themselves, they aren't going to accomplish a thing. Keep mourning your dead!
COMPLETE LIE: "It's a very safe neighborhood in my opinion," said Chicago Police Cmdr. Sam Christian of the Albany Park District. In the case of Ihmud's murder, "it was very out of character for that sort of thing to happen," he said.
I lived just east of the Chicago River in Lincoln Square. If you wanted to hear action on your police scanner, you listened to Albany Park (17th District).
THE TRUTH: "Ninety percent of all organizing efforts are like a flash in the pan. All these people get together, they march, they're on TV, and six months later, everybody forgets about it." Noden said.
And the disarmed people keep dying...

FRAN EATON INTEVIES GENERAL BORLING AND IT IS NOT BORING!
"The general has taken on a new mission, one that is a challenging new experience for him, but not likely to be the toughest he has endured.
Borling, his campaign slogan says, is a 'citizen, soldier, statesman' and now he wants to be 'senator.'
Thankfully, on the day of the interview we met in the diner parking lot simultaneously. 'Like a good military guy, ex-military guy, I like to be on time,' he said. 'It's a sign of respect as well as discipline.'"
This is highly recommended reading. General Borling is one interesting guy.

SUNTIMES ASKS FOR LENIENCY FOR NATHANIEL HEATWOLE
"The authorities don't like it when you break the law, whatever your intentions, and in most cases neither do we. But the decision to prosecute the North Carolina college student charged with hiding box cutters in the lavatories of four commercial airplanes strikes us as a regrettable course of action -- a face-saving overreaction.
We certainly wouldn't want to encourage the kind of gamesmanship Nathaniel Heatwole engaged in by e-mailing feds that he had 'information regarding six security breaches' at two airports. But far from committing what a prosecutor termed a 'foolish' action, he had his wits about him -- and the best interests of all of us in mind -- in seeking to expose the gaps in airline security that still exist despite all the federal money that has been earmarked to close them. Should this 20-year-old serve time in prison for revealing how easily passengers with murderous intentions could hide their weapons -- and how long those weapons could remain in hiding, undetected? It wasn't until a month after Heatwole alerted feds to the hidden items that they were found on two planes, not until last week that they were found on the two other aircraft.
Two years after 9/11, the mere mention of box-cutters triggers an angry response in all of us. But what does anyone have to gain from prosecuting this young man, at considerable expense? Wouldn't it be a better idea to apply the money to making airline security truly secure?"

CHICAGO TAXPAYERS ORDERED TO PAY ASSAILAINT $136K IN BACK DISABILITY PLUS $1K A WEEK. YOU BIG DUMMIES.
"An arbitrator has ordered Chicago taxpayers to pay $136,036 in back disability benefits to a Streets and Sanitation supervisor who was charged with a brutal assault while on leave with what he said were severe hand injuries.
Jan Pruchnicki, a $36.46-an-hour foreman for the Bureau of Electricity, is scheduled to go on trial later this month for allegedly beating his daughter's former boyfriend unconscious after breaking into the man's apartment on Oct. 16, 2002.
At the time of the alleged attack, Pruchnicki had already been on disability leave for three months -- and had the first of three hand surgeries -- after being diagnosed with "bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome" suffered when his shovel struck a piece of concrete at a job site at 61st and Melvina.
The police reports state that he wielded a "tire thumper" and had enough strength in his hands to pick the boyfriend up and throw him on the couch.
When Chief Administrative Officer Steve Murray learned of the attack, he fired off a letter to Pruchnicki cutting off his $957.60-a-week disability benefits."

BIG DUMMIES IN CHICAGO TO BE TAXED FROM PARROTS TO FERRETS.
"In a frantic search for revenue in a 2004 budget that already includes $50.5 million in new taxes and 1,414 job cuts, Chicago aldermen on Tuesday suggested licensing bicycles and issuing a universal $5 pet license that would cover everything from cats and snakes to ferrets, rabbits and parakeets."
In case you don't get the message, do not ever go to Chicago. You will just be taxed to death. Chicagoan's love to pay taxes and they love their mayor so let's leave them in peace in their paradise by the lake.
However the concept of licensing bicycles is a good one, but not at the city level, at the state level. I never understood how bicyclists demand special lanes, the right of way and never bother to observe traffic laws (stop signs and lights are foreign objects to them) yet they are not required to have a drivers license, a bicycle license or insurance. Nor do they pay road taxes. About time someone cracked down hard on bicyclists. Their image of just people saving the environment in a healthy way is totally bogus and I just don't buy it. They just want a free ride and we are big dummies for giving them one.

IDIOTIC ZERO TOLERANCE REACHES NEW HEIGHTS
From WorldNetDaily: Students can't bring gun to firearms class
A 12-year-old student who brought his unloaded gun to a firearms-safety course at his public school was met with a surprise when administrators and instructors intercepted him in enforcement of the district's new "zero-tolerance policy."
Defending the policy, Steve Kranz, chairman of the school board, said, according to the Star Tribune, "We can't pretend that guns don't exist. The question is: Do schools have a role in educating people about firearms?"
So what's next? How about driver's ed without a car! Students can go home and practice driving on those 'evil' video games. The fact that this level of political correctness has spread to a rural town in Minnesota is very bad news people.

PRO-GUN JEWS NEED TO BE HEARD

The ultimate and complete objective of the Sarah Brady Campaign to destroy the US Constitution, the Violence Policy Center, Rabbi Abe Foxman and the anti-Defamation League, and the New Jersey League of Jewish Women and others, is to ban all guns in America.
This is the objective of senatorial Jews Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer. Feinstein has already confessed her intentions on CBS’ 60 Minutes.
Why in God’s name do Jews support gun control? Do they fail to understand the nature of Hitler’s 1938 Nazi Gun Control Act, imported from Germany by Democrat Senator Thomas Dodd to become the 1968 US Gun Control Act?
Why do Jews support Nazi gun control? Why do the liberal New York Times and Newark Star-Ledger support Nazi gun control? Both the Times and the Star-Ledger are owned and operated by Jewish families: the Sulzbergers and the Newhouses. In a recent Internet debate, a Jewish writer conceded: “Jews are incorrigible liberals.”
And if James Brady asks the question, “Why do you need guns when we have the police?” perhaps one can ask him why he’s confined to a wheelchair.
The blacks and hispanics of Chicago continue to re-elect Mayor Daley while he disarms them and lets the killing continue. The Jewish people just don't remember either I guess. All you need do is look at the high crime rate in every city with lots of gun control and lack of concealed carry. Lesson over.

RAUSCHENBERGER STATES HE SUPPORTS CCW IN IL
My email to Mr Rauschenberger and his reply:
I would like to know, in detail your thoughts on the Second Amendment of the US Constitution and your position on the right to carry a concealed weapon.
I realize you are running for the US Senate and cannot directly address the issue as it stands in IL. However, recently there have been efforts in congress for a national reciprocity to carry a concealed weapon in all the states.
I would appreciate your position on this issue.
I live in IL, where in the murder rate in Cook County and the City of Chicago is horrendous. I happen to have a CCW license from the state of Florida and can carry a concealed weapon in I believe 23 states now. Yet, when I cross that state line into my home state when traveling for business or pleasure, if I forget to unload the weapon, I am an instant felon in my own home state.
I have been carrying for several years now in the states that allow me to legally. I have never once had the sudden urge to shoot someone over a parking space or over a road rage incident.
Your response is appreciated.

RICK STANLEY JAILED AGAIN, THIS TIME ON FELONIES!
From Denver's ABC7: Rick Stanley Fails To Appear In Court On Gun Charges
BRIGHTON, Colo. -- The 2002 Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate from Colorado has been arrested on charges he failed to appear in court and he threatened two judges in Adams County.
Rick Stanley, 49, ran unsuccessfully against Republican Sen. Wayne Allard last year, then later left the Libertarian Party of Colorado.
He had been arrested in September 2002 for attending the Thornton Harvest Fest with a loaded revolver on his hip, which he has said he believes is his constitutional right, and was convicted on a misdemeanor gun charge.
But instead of appearing to be sentenced at a hearing scheduled last Wednesday, he had a document titled "Notice and Order' delivered to the municipal and state district judges handling his case, according to court records.
The document, posted on Stanley's Web site, "ordered" the judges to dismiss the charge and return to him $1,500 in bond money, his "Smith and Wesson 6 shot .357 pistol and 6 each .357 bullets."
The document also accused the judges of treason and included a statement he would have his "mutual defenses Pact Militia" order a warrant for their arrest.
Bob Grant, district attorney for Adams and Broomfield counties, viewed the notice as a threat against the judges.
"Law enforcement takes these folks extremely seriously, takes their threats extremely seriously, and that's why this case was investigated and filed," he said.
Stanley was arrested over the weekend.
Stanley, facing two felony counts of attempting to influence a public servant, was being held under $50,000 bail. However he was not eligible for release until he completes the 90-day sentence handed down in his absence last week, Grant said.
So Stanley has upped the ante and is now facing 2 felonies instead of 1 misdemeanor. Will his militia show themselves? Time will tell...
