IT'S THE GUNS FAULT, NOT THE KIDS OR THE PARENTS FOR NEGLIGENCE

Johnson: Buddies don't kill -- parents' guns do

November 1, 2003"

The hallway fell silent as they led the handcuffed and shackled young boy into the courtroom, the two deputies holding one elbow each as he

bunny-hopped past, wide- eyed.

A sheepish grin flashed briefly on his face. And not once did he cast a glance at Tina Thatcher Burks. She stood against the wall, her hand over her mouth, tears welling in her eyes.

The 14-year-old boy was on his way to be sentenced for killing her 15-year-old son, Sammy Burks Jr., with a handgun he had found beneath the mattress of his parents' bed.

As usual, it's the gun that jumped out and did the killing. You can't possibly blame the kid or the parents for being stoooopid.

DETROIT FREE PRESS ON THE "VIGILANTE"

October 28, 2003

Thank you for covering the good citizens who stopped an attack by a pipe-wielding thug ('Killing may have been vigilantism,' Oct. 24). While I was quoted accurately, I think it important to note that I do not support vigilantes of any stripe. Vigilantes typically act as judge, jury and executioner after the fact. For instance, they believe someone committed rape and then go after him. Clearly, such action is the province of law enforcement and the courts, not a lynch mob.

In this case, we reportedly had an in-progress attack and a citizen stepping forward to stop the attack using appropriate force, as a metal pipe is a lethal weapon. This is an instance of good citizenship, not the work of vigilantes.
I surely do not blame the citizen, however, for not wanting to be 'interviewed' by the police. I would hope any witnesses to the shooting would not come forward. Acts of this sort need to be encouraged to send a clear message to violent criminals: 'Be afraid. Be very afraid.'

IF YOU ARE PROHIBITED FROM POSSESSING A GUN, DON'T DO IT IN ARIZONA

From the Arizona Daily Star: 10 years possible in gun accident

A Benson man faces up to 10 years in federal prison after accidentally shooting himself in the groin with a gun he wasn't allowed to have.

James Dietrick Leavitt, 38, was convicted Thursday by federal court jurors of possessing a firearm despite being prohibited from having one.

Leavitt was charged after Tucson police responded to a report of gunshots in the area of West Prince and North Romero roads on Aug. 7, 2002. Police arrived to find the bleeding Leavitt lying on the ground next to his motorcycle.

During trial, Leavitt said he intended to return a firearm to an ex-girlfriend when it fell out of his vest pocket and went off and the bullet struck him in the groin. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents determined that Leavitt had previously been convicted of false imprisonment and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 4 before U.S. District Judge John Roll.

VIGILANTES ALIVE AND WELL FROM MICHIGAN TO FLORIDA

From the Sun-Sentinel: Robbery victim used truck to run down, kill gunman

TAMPA -- A restaurant owner who was held up at gunpoint jumped in his truck, pursued the robber and ran the man down, killing him, police said.

Storer said he was sitting in his Ford Explorer outside the Thai restaurant he owns at about 11:30 p.m., taking a break from some renovation work, police spokesman Joe Durkin said. A man approached on foot, stuck a chrome handgun in his face and demanded money.

We need this sort of mentality to come to Chicago. Sad to say it is the only way the gang shootings and sexual assaults will stop. Daley doesn't give a damn about you, you are on your own. Of course, we could always have more candlelight vigils to 'feel good'.

From the Sun-Sentinel: Clerk fighting for life after gunmen try to rob Lauderdale store

FORT LAUDERDALE -- A convenience store clerk was fighting for his life today after being shot just after midnight by two masked men, a police spokesman said.

The men burst into the store, at 1300 NW Sixth St., and immediately shot the clerk, Saed Mashini, 30, said Detective Clinton Ward.

From the Chicago Tribune: Boy, 5, wounded in crossfire

October 31, 2003

A 5-year-old boy was shot in the left leg in an apparent gang-related crossfire Thursday night, police said.

The child was playing with some friends and family members at a park in the 6600 block of South Wolcott Avenue around 8:20 p.m., police spokesman Hector Alfaro said. Witnesses told police they heard two shots from inside the park. The 5-year-old then told a family member he had been shot.

Halloween is supposed to be a fun day for kids and adults alike. Unfortunately, this 5-year-old will not be trick or treating today. Since you won't hold Mayor Daley accountable, please send him a thank you for allowing the gangs to flourish in Chicago. And don't forget your bulletproof vest if you are going trick-or-treating.
IF YOU DIE IN CHICAGO, YOU WILL SOON BE FORGOTTEN

John Kass, telling it like it is in the Chicago Tribune.

Two words were on the sign outside the Chicago Theatre, where machine politicians organized their memorial to those who died needlessly in the Cook County Administration Building fire:

"We remember."

If you've been here even for a short while, you've seen other similar memorials. There were memorials for those who fell from a non-inspected porch in Lincoln Park, a few feet from the alderman's office. There were memorials for those trampled to death in the stampede in a South Side nightclub. City Hall considered the nightclub dangerous, but City Hall forgot to deny the politically connected club its license to sell liquor.

City Hall knows that it is not the remembering that counts.

It is the forgetting that matters.

FEMALE CHAING GANG: SOUNDS BAD BUT STILL BETTER THAN BEING AN INFANTRY SOLDIER IN IRAQ

For the chief lawman of Maricopa County, which includes the 3 million residents of Phoenix and its satellite cities and suburbs, presiding over the chain gang fits his self-declared image of being the toughest sheriff in America.

Under Arpaio, the 8,000 inmates of the county jail system work seven days a week, are fed only twice a day, get no coffee, no cigarettes, no salt, pepper or ketchup and no organized recreation. Human rights groups regard it as the harshest jail system in the United States."

FEMALE CHAIN GANG
WOULDN'T IT BE EASIER TO JUST CARRY A GUN?

Crimes against Northwestern students are happening so frequently that it's hard to remember how shocked we should be each time we hear about one. Most recently a female graduate student was attacked while walking on the 600 block of Clark Street around 2 a.m. Saturday. Her front teeth were knocked out and she had to get stitches on her upper lip and chin.

But above all else, students are responsible for not allowing themselves to be victimized. The repeated precautions about not walking alone and taking the shuttle service might seem cliched -- or even pointless -- but they're still necessary. Other schools use "buddy systems" that pair students so someone is always watching out for someone else.

DAVID GROSS OF "CONCEALED CARRY REFORM NOW" ON THE I$RA $98K JUDGEMENT

Concealed Carry Reform, NOW! (Minnesota) led the charge in picking up expired names of anti-gun organizations in March of 2002.

We happened to mention it to Neal Knox who trumpeted it around the country as the thing to do. As a journalist, he wasn't required to mention the caveats that accompany such a move, under the law. I shuddered when I saw the report of Joe's and my actions on Neal's website. We did something different from the Illinois group, however. We did it and made no public issue of it 1) because the opposition complained/protested right away, and 2) we realized that, if we lost (always a possibility), we didn't want to create huge damages. We let the opposition make it public, through their complaint in the courts, where our Answer was privileged and required. The news media, of course, picked up on it right away, and our response to their inquiries was subdued, factual, and "It's in the Courts." All the adjectives and adverbs belonged to the opposition's comments, and they sounded like a bunch of losers.

In fact, some of our membership saw the press releases and reports of the ISRA actions and protested that we were being upstaged and preempted by ISRA, when we came up with the idea, first. Joe and I, who were in control of the matter (Thank God!) advised that we would not act so foolishly, in our joint, humble legal opinion. We contacted ISRA, once, and advised some restraint, but it was too late. They apparently thought that it was the court of public opinion, instead of the courts of law.

ISRA didn't exercise that sort of JUDGMENT, and created a bunch of damages.

This is what happens when you thump your chest, gloat, and shove it in peoples' faces. Although you add to the embarrassment of the opposition and you get to humiliate them, you also get to pay for the pleasure when it is all said and done; and, incidentally, humiliate yourself.

Well, we lost, too. It cost us $345 for statutory costs and filing fees: no damages, because there weren't any that WE caused. The opposition was forced into the unenviable position of having to disclose publicly their incompetence. The opposition looked like fools, marginalized themselves, and whined a lot, damaging their own credibility at the legislature and being totally ineffective at the legislature in opposing the carry reform bill which became the Minnesota Citizens Personal Protection Act of 2003, a model for the nation, we think (and so does NRA). Money and effort (a relative
pittance) well spent.

Sometimes, SUBTLETY and a LONG RANGE VIEW (maturity?) is called for, instead of a tribal war/battle victory dance (immediate gratification) that can be legitimately portrayed as KKK Cross Burning. Perhaps I'm being a little harsh, here; but not by much, as the amount of the damages assessed attests to. Who can blame ISRA, which was desperate for any good news for such a long time. Their excitement overcame their better judgment. But understanding the motivation and emotional needs does not excuse the conduct anymore than than the emotional justification of punching someone in the nose "who sincerely deserves/needs it" eliminates the damages of the punch.

I feel sorry for them. I don't mean to gloat. I don't find any joy in this.

"I told you so." gives no satisfaction; and every person or organization is responsible/accountable for its decisions and actions.

And that's the rule of law and common sense.

David Gross

GOVERNMENT TEACHES A LESSON IN OBEDIENCE

As promised, federal prosecutors on Wednesday charged white supremacist Matthew Hale with a new count of murder solicitation, prompting his lawyers to ask that the additional charge be severed from the case or that the trial be postponed.

The indictment referred to the new witness only as "Individual A," though prosecutors in court papers last week identified him as Jon Fox, the self-described leader in Illinois of Hale's World Church of the Creator.

"Fox, an admitted alcohol abuser, appears to have considerable animus against Hale and enormous personal and political motivation in the white supremacy world to see to it that Hale remains in jail," the defense said in the filing.

Matt Hale is a racist. Then again so is Jesse Jackson and Luis Farakhan. However Matt is the wrong kind of racist so the government is piling on. This case is NOT about solicitation to commit murder, it's about what happens if you open your big fat pie hole in the USA and the wrong words come out. Will be interesting to see the racial composition of the jury and how that effects the outcome. I really think this case is going to be important because if Matt wins it may make the government think twice about punishing "wrong think" people. If they win...well guess I'll have to learn to keep my yap zipped.

Chicago Tribune | Hale is hit with a new charge
KIDS CAN BE ADULTS WHEN THE COMMIT CRIMES BUT NOT WHEN THEY DO GOOD THINGS...WHY IS THAT?

"Two 15-year-old males were charged as adults Wednesday after shooting and seriously injuring a 20-year-old student near Washington High School, 3535 E. 114th St., officials said.

Benny Trevino, of the 13500 block of South Buffalo Avenue, and Samuel Lopez, of the 9400 block of South Commercial Avenue, were both charged with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school, said John Gorman, spokesman for the Cook County state's attorney. If convicted, Trevino and Lopez could each face 6 to 30 years in prison, Gorman said."

Frankly I don't care how long Benny and Sammy go away, but why is kids can be charged as adults when they commit a crime but when they do good things, like be an honor student, they can't be similarly treated as adults and given the right to vote, to consume alcohol, sign contracts etc? I am sure greater minds than mine know the answer to this.

PRESS WETS THEIR PANTS OVER NRA BLACKLIST

"LOS ANGELES -- Most blacklists are designed to intimidate. But thousands of Americans are clamoring to join one drawn up by the National Rifle Association.

Actor Dustin Hoffman was so dismayed to find his name missing from the NRA's shadowy 19-page list of U.S. companies, celebrities, and news organizations seen as lending support to anti-gun policies that he wrote to the powerful pro-gun lobby group begging to be included.

'As a supporter of comprehensive gun safety measures, I was deeply disappointed when I discovered my name was not on the list,' Hoffman said in a letter to the NRA."

Note how this list is described as "Shadowy." Heck this list has been around forever. I don't recall the press upset about lists that detailed companies who did business in South Africa during apartheid. Guess some black lists are good, and some are "shadowy."

WONDER WHAT MAYOR DALEY'S POLICY ON SEX OFFENDERS IS?

Texas Counties Order Lights Out for Sex Offenders on Halloween

LUBBOCK, Texas — Authorities in three West Texas counties have strict orders for sex offenders this Halloween: Go home, turn out your lights and don't answer your door.

On Friday, convicted sex offenders whose victims were children and who are on probation must be home by 6 p.m.

Officers in Lubbock, Potter and Tom Green counties will check on the 100 or so men and women throughout the night as part of Project Lights Out.

"It's good to know they are putting sex offenders on notice," said Margaret Crawford, who planned to take her 8-year-old son out to collect candy and treats. "I think that's a top priority for any parent."

What can I say? Don't mess with Texas! In the meantime, sexual attacks on women are at an all time high on the north side of Chicago. Boo hoo Mayor Daley.

SENATE HOPEFUL RAUSCHENBERGER BACK PEDALS ON ARMED TEACHERS

"While appearing on a radio program recently, he was asked his position on whether citizens should be allowed to carry concealed handguns.

Rauschenberger has been a supporter of such legislation in the Illinois Senate, 'as long as a citizen received law enforcement-approved training and underwent an extensive criminal background check.'

But this time he was asked a more specific question.

Would he allow teachers to carry concealed handguns into the classroom?

'Yes,' Rauschenberger said.

He now claims that he was thinking of the Columbine High School massacre at the time.

Teachers should have a right to protect themselves and their students from school violence, Rauschenberger explained in defending his answer.
On Tuesday, however, Rauschenberger's campaign issued a news release containing the following paragraph.

'Upon further reflection, and the solicited advice from law enforcement, education and teachers, including my wife Betty, I have concluded that the risks of having a loaded gun in a classroom outweigh any possible benefits. As such, I do not support legislation that would allow teachers to carry guns in classrooms.'"

His conclusion is dead wrong. The assumption here is that anyone with a gun is just dying to use it. Sounds like Rauschenberger is becoming more like Jim Durkin everyday. And if you don't remember who Jim Durkin is....well soon you won't remember who Rauschenberger is either if he keeps this up.

I emailed the following to Daily Southown Reporter Paul Kadner and the Rauschenberger campaign:

Mr. Kadner:

I would say Sen. Rauschenberger got it right the first time about arming teachers. Israeli's even have parents and grandparents toting full auto Uzi's at schools. Your mindset is that because someone "could" do something the risk should eliminated.

Someone could ram their car into a farmer's market in LA...in fact they did. Ban Cars?

Someone could right a libelous news story. Ban newspapers?

All Rauschenberger has done now is gain NO SUPPORT from the gun grabbers who won't like him no matter what and lost support from gun owners. Sounds like a classic no win to me.

CHICAGO POLICE TELL WOMEN: DIAL 911 AND DIE B*TCH DIE

Chicago police Monday held a street safety workshop for women concerned about a rash of sexual assaults on the North Side."

It's kind of like having a game plan," said Sgt. Cynthia Schumann, of the district's community policing division. "Have some sort of plan for yourself."

Officer Ron Rufo stressed the importance of walking in a group, if possible, and being aware of surroundings. He also said to not keep possessions such as an ID and credit cards in pocketbooks. Women should not talk on their cell phones while walking alone. Instead, they should have 911 keyed in on their cell phones so the emergency number can be called quickly in the event of trouble, Rufo said.

Rufo told audience members that if they are attacked, they should get a good look at their attacker so that they can give a complete description to police, including approximate age, height, weight, hair and eye color, race and any distinguishing marks such as tattoos.

The only time to fight is when the attacker tries a sexual assault or tries to take you somewhere, Rufo said.

Well, there you have it. The Chicago cops admit they won't be there when you need them and you will be fighting hand to hand combat. To further protect yourself have your cell phone pre-dialed to 911. Presumably the 911 dispatcher will then record your screams as the attack takes place.

Also, don't forget the Chicago Police are famous for shooting people with cell phones (Latanya Haggerty, may she rest in peace, comes to mind.)

ISRA PAYS ICHV $98K

It is no longer just a court order. The Illinois State Rifle Association has paid $98K of our money to the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence. This makes the ISRA the single largest cash contributor to the number one enemy of gun rights in Illinois: The ICHV.

BACKROUND: Previously the ISRA agreed they had indeed infringed on the ICHV tradmark in a big way. U.S. Judge James Zagel then ordered the ISRA to pay the legal fees of the ICHV. The question then was who would pay? Insurance? The indivduals involved? Or the ISRA?

SUMMARY: According to the report below the insurance company for the ISRA would have paid, but only on the condition that ISRA Second VP and NRA Lobbyist Todd Vandermyde be booted permenantly off the board. However as Todd Vandermyde is the heir apparent to the throne at the ISRA, if and when current ISRA President "For Life" Richard Pearson gives up the ole' ghost, having insurance pay was not an option. Further it is unlikely Todd has $98K in his wallet.

Nope, I'm afraid the members paid. At $20 a year dues you do the math how many members funded the ICHV instead of the ISRA. It will make you sick. Worse, the $98K is just legal fees for the ICHV. On top of that you have the ISRA legal bills so the amount spent could easily be double. Imagine what that kind of money could have done to get a concealed carry law passed?

So far no one is calling for the ouster of any responsiblie parties. The ISRA board has taken no action against any ISRA Officer from President Pearson on down. I suspect they don't want the ISRA membership to even know about this. And the members won't know about it unless YOU TAKE ACTION.

Now Listen Up: You can keep this a secret like the ISRA wants (you will not read of this in the Illinois Shooter) or you can pass this around. Not just to your gun lists, but to your local press as well. Hopefully the ISRA board members (and there are some good ones) will then clean house before it's too late. To make it easy here are the contacts the media would want to speak with if they take an interest:

Richard Pearson, ISRA President, (815) 635-3198
Todd Vandermyde, ISRA Second VP, tvandermyd@aol.com
Thomas Mennard, Exec Director, ICHV, (312) 341-0939
John Boch, Editor for GunNEWS, (217) 649-3702
John Birch, President, Concealed Carry, Inc., (630) 660-3935

To complain to the NRA you can contact our state representative, Michael Huber at nrarep4il@prodigy.net

If you pay dues to the ISRA you can complain to them at (815) 635-3198 or president@isra.org and make sure to CC john@concealcarry.org so I can make sure you email is read by other ISRA board members.

ISRA PAYS HUGE $98,000 JUDGEMENT TO ICHV
Refuses insurance company payoff contingent upon removal of Vandermyde, Flanagan from Board

Chatsworth, IL (GunNews) The Illinois State Rifle Association Second Vice-President Todd Vandermyde and former director Peter Flanagan had a good idea when they registered a new, gun-rights friendly "Illinois Coalition Against Handgun Violence, Inc." with the Secretary of State's office in 2002. The "old" ICHV had failed to properly renew its corporate registration with the State of Illinois in 2001 and as such, the 25-year-old corporation which lobbied tirelessly against civil rights technically no longer existed.

Problems arose in May and June 2002 when the "new" coalition with Vandermyde as its spokesman issued press releases claiming the ICHV now supported gun rights legislation in Illinois.

At this point, ICHV's attorneys became involved claiming trademark infringement and sought a restraining order from federal court barring further releases. A short time later, the ISRA agreed to stop using ICHV's name and in return, the old ICHV would not sue the ISRA.

The matter of legal fees incurred by the old ICHV remained, and ICHV sought reimbursement of roughly $210,000 spent on lawyers. U.S. District Judge James Zagel ruled in March 2003 that the ISRA would be liable for $98,013.20.

The ISRA allegedly characterized the registration of the new "ICHV" as "as overly cute joke."

A cute joke, stupid stunt or waste of money?

The Illinois State Rifle Association, it has been reported by sources close to the ISRA leadership, sought to have
its insurance company pick up the tab for the wreckless misadventure of two of its inner circle, Vandermyde and Flanagan, as well as Flanagan's wife, Medina.

The insurance company allegedly agreed to pay the award, our source says, if Vandermyde and Flanagan were both barred from holding any position of leadership in ISRA in perpetuity.

ISRA's President Richard Pearson, apparently with the blessing of the ISRA's Board of Directors, chose to pay the award from ISRA's assets rather than remove Vandermyde as Second Vice-President.

We have confirmed that the ISRA did in fact pay the judgement to the ICHV in September with a check drawn from its money market fund.

The ISRA's business office and President Richard Pearson were each contacted by GunNews for comment. Neither responded to comment on the allegations.

GunNews was unable to uncover how much additional money was spent in legal costs incurred by the ISRA defending the organization and Mssrs. Vandermyde and Flanagan for their "overly cute joke."

Take Back Illinois
6 MONTHS LATER, 2 MURDER SUSPECTS STILL AT LARGE, ANOTHER CANDLELIGHT VIGIL

From the Chicago Tribune: $15,000 reward in actor's death

CHICAGO -- A $15,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the conviction of the killer of Barry Cunnane, an amateur actor fatally shot in the Ravenswood neighborhood, his friends said Sunday.

Cunnane, 27, was walking with a friend to a neighborhood bar early May 24 when he was shot once in the head in the 1900 block of West Leland Avenue, across the street from his apartment, police and a witness said.

Two men fled the shooting, which police called unprovoked. No arrests have been made, authorities said.

On Oct. 5, friends hosted a benefit to help raise the reward. On Cunnane's birthday, Nov. 6, they plan a candlelight vigil at the scene of the crime.

"Having a reward is not going to bring Barry back, but if it will make the streets safer for this community and the community where this person might be, that's the most we can hope for now," said Michael O'Malley, chairman of Friends of Barry Cunnane.

Stories like this really make my blood boil! At the time of this murder, I lived just a few blocks away on Leland. Lincoln Square is one of the safest neighborhoods in Chicago, but murder still happens. This is one of those crimes where the victims could have clearly used a handgun for defense. At the very least this poor victim's friend could have return fire instead of running to a phone. So now we have 1 good guy dead and 2 murderers still at large. A really poor outcome I'd say.

NEIGHBORS BEMOAN SLAYING OF BOY, 13

Shontrell Graham was shot Saturday.

ROCKFORD — Successive pops of gunfire startled Bob Huska from an otherwise quiet Saturday night of watching satellite television in his front room.

Two bullets had hit Huska’s house. At least one other had hit 13-year-old Shontrell Graham in the head.

As Huska grab-bed the phone to call police, Graham’s blood seeped onto the asphalt toward a gutter in the 600 block of Furman Street.

MARCHING AGAINST GANGS AND GUNS. GANGS UNIMPRESSED.

"As marchers chanted 'no more gangs, no more guns,' reminders of the neighborhood's gang presence were nearby.

Officer Daniel Martinez, of the Chicago Police Department's community policing program, pointed to a couple of teens wearing black and yellow caps cocked to the side.

'They're Satan's Disciples,' he said. 'I can tell by their colors.'"

NEVER BRING A WINE BOTTLE TO A GUN FIGHT

"An off-duty police officer working as a security guard shot and wounded a man Sunday morning at the Little Village Discount Mall in the 3100 block of West 26th St. The man was among several people in a car that had entered the mall lot through the wrong driveway, and when confronted by the officer, argued with him. One of the men threatened to return and kill the officer, and later they did return, with one man attacking the officer with a bottle while another went for the officer's gun, according to Chicago Police spokesman Pat Camden. The officer then fired a single shot, striking one of the attackers in the abdomen. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not released. Another man was in custody, while three others fled on foot. No one had been charged as of Sunday evening, and the shooting was being investigated."

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY HIGHWAY SHOOT-EM UP PACKS A POWERFUL MESSAGE

'Dialed 911,

'And I'm on hold,

'Sure wish I had,

'That gun I sold.'

The final sign advertises the Champaign County Rifle Association's Web site, www.gunssavelife.com. A similar set of signs is visible to those driving west.

As you shoot down I-80, look for signs:
THE RICH AND FAMOUS ARE BETTER THAN YOU AND THEY CARRY THE GUNS TO PROVE IT!

From the New York Post: Armed and Famous

Yes, that's a pistol in their pockets.

A bevy of the Big Apple's biggest stars are packing heat, according to the latest data from the NYPD's list of gun-license holders.

Among the more than 3,600 privileged New Yorkers allowed to hit the street with a loaded weapon are tough-guy actors Robert De Niro and Harvey Keitel, shock-jocks Howard Stern and Don Imus, developer Donald Trump, record honcho Tommy Mottola and Channel 5 TV anchor John Roland.

Also on the list are ex-Seagrams CEO Edgar M. Bronfman, defense lawyer Barry Slotnick, state Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, Daily News co-publisher Fred Drasner, Manhattan Judge Leslie Crocker Snyder, Arkansas Lt. Gov. Winthrop P. Rockefeller (whose famous family is based in the city) and Assistant state Attorney General Steven Pagones, who was smeared in the Tawana Brawley fiasco 15 years ago.

Here lies the danger of 'may issue' concealed carry laws. If you aren't rich or famous, your life isn't worth protecting. I'd run from any of the big three cities (NYC, LA or Chicago) as fast as you can. If you need to live in a major metro area, there are plenty of states that have big cities and 'shall issue' concealed caryy laws. Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, New Mexico are just a few. Check out www.packing.org before you move anywhere!
BIG DUMMY STATE SENATOR THINKS WOMEN SHOULD BE DEFENSELESS TARGETS

Daily Herald - Letters to the Editor Oct. 26 2003

Garrett for women's rights, except one

State Sen. Susan Garrett, outstanding advocate for women's rights, has me confused. She advocates protecting women from domestic violence, but does not advocate allowing women to protect themselves with a handgun from domestic violence. She believes women have the intellectual capacity to safely perform any task except operate a handgun. She believes women have the emotional stability to handle any situation except defending their lives with a handgun. She believes women can handle any responsibility except handgun ownership. When it comes to women's rights, Sen. Garrett is pro-choice except for handgun ownership. Sen. Garrett's anti-gun stance is contributing to the myth that women are the weaker sex and not capable of defending themselves from violent criminals.

The majority of lawmakers in 36 states believe women have the intellectual capacity, emotional stability and sense of responsibility to legally carry concealed handguns for self-protection. These states do not want women to be primary targets for violent criminals. Sen. Garrett needs to rethink her anti-gun position as a women's rights advocate.

So 15 year old gang punks with cheap handguns and no training can shoot but an adult woman, who would probably be required to take a gun-safety class before getting a conceal carry permit, can't. This really big dummy State Sen. Susan Garrett should definitely be voted out!

GOVERNMENT CONTINUES TO HAMMER MATT HALE. NEVER HOLD AN UNPOPULAR VIEW OR THEY WILL TAKE YOU DOWN.

"The racist reverend Matt Hale didn't get to appear Friday before the federal judge he allegedly tried to get his chief of security to kill."

I sure am glad Reverend Jackson and Minister Farakhan aren't racists. Makes me sleep better knowing Matt is rotting in jail too. Serves him right eh?

Judge deals Hale's 'church' a $200,000 defeat:
ANOTHER CICERO COP FAILS THE PERSONALITY TEST

"An off-duty Cicero police officer was shot and seriously injured in Chicago early Saturday after three men tried to rob him on the street. The 29-year-old officer was eating hot dogs with another off-duty Cicero officer alongside their car at Roosevelt and Union when the men approached about 4:45 a.m., police said. An argument ensued and escalated to a fight. The officer was shot once in his abdomen, Chicago police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. 'He's not out of the woods yet,' Cicero Lt. John Krzyzowski said. The shooter and his accomplices fled in a light blue Chevy Celebrity while still firing shots. No one was in custody Saturday evening. The second officer, a 30-year-old man, wasn't injured."

First the Cicero cops get rousted out one of my favorite dives, Frankie and Johnnies (on Central close by Midway.) Now another one gets gut shot. These boys got to learn to either stay in Cicero or if they want to go out with the big boys, they need to keep their yap shut.

MAYOR SAYS NO GUN. KILLER SAYS "GOOD," MAKES LIFE REAL EASY. DEATH TOO.

"Magdalena Kwasnik came to Chicago from central Poland two years ago, arriving alone and speaking only a handful of English words.

But Kwasnik, a 24-year-old waitress with a luminous smile who quickly had a string of suitors, was adapting rapidly to American life. She traveled to California and Florida. She wrote for a local Polish magazine. She took class after class in English and seemed to be readying for a future in the U.S.

On Friday night, Kwasnik was slain in the bedroom of her Northwest Side apartment. She died of multiple stab wounds to the neck, police said."

Guess she should have had a can of mace?

Chicago Tribune | Woman stabbed to death at home:
BIG DUMMY CHICAGO WOMEN OBEY MAYOR DALEY'S GUN LAWS. HOPE THEY LIKE NON-CONSENSUAL SEX OR WORSE.

Before a rash of sexual assaults hit the North Side, Laurie Meyer made occasional solo treks to her Lakeview apartment after a night out with friends. But warnings of a sexual attacker preying on young women in her chic neighborhood have modified her behavior.

'It unnerves me that it's so close to campus,' said Laura Scales, a 19-year-old sophomore who said many of her friends carry pocketknives. 'I probably should carry Mace or something.'

Freshman Assia Boundaoui, who took self-defense classes a few years ago, has signed up for kickboxing classes. 'I think everyone should be prepared and aware in case it ever happens,' she said."

Pocket knife? Mace? Kick Boxing classes? You big dummies get smart. Get a gun. You keep listening to your big dummy mayor and you are going to end up robbed, raped, maybe dead.
